Postal strike reaches 27 days as Canada Post and union clash over escalating proposals and costs
The standoff between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continues as the nationwide strike enters its 27th day, reported BNN Bloomberg.
On Wednesday, Canada Post described the union’s new demands as “unaffordable and unsustainable,” estimating the proposed changes would add over $3bn in costs over four years.
The postal service noted these demands come at a time when it faces financial difficulties.
This statement follows Canada Post’s earlier remarks on Monday, which highlighted that the union’s latest proposals have widened the gap between the two sides.
According to Canada Post, some of the union’s demands have even increased, further complicating the negotiation process.
The dispute reflects growing tensions as both parties remain far from a resolution, prolonging the strike and its impact nationwide.
