Supporting staff a key factor in determining success and sustainability of a business, says CEO
Peninsula Canada has introduced a new 24/7 Employee Wellbeing Service, empowering business owners and senior managers to prioritize the health and wellbeing of their employees around the clock.
The importance of mental health has been a pressing concern in Canada, as evidenced by a survey conducted by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), where 87% of respondents expressed their support for universal mental health care, with 69% believing the country was facing a mental health crisis.
“Employee wellbeing is a key factor in determining the overall success and sustainability of a business,” said Darren Chadwick, CEO at Peninsula Canada.
“It’s crucial for employers to support the wellbeing of staff to avoid dealing with an increase in absenteeism and a decrease in productivity.”
“That’s why this new platform is such an exciting development. Not only will it enhance the support we currently provide, but it will also help businesses increase their productivity and guarantee success,” Chadwick said.
A report from The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) highlighted that at least 500,000 Canadians miss work due to mental illness every week, resulting in a financial impact of approximately $51 billion annually, with $6.3 billion attributed to lost productivity. The costs extend to presenteeism, absenteeism, and challenges with employee retention and recruitment.
To address these issues, Peninsula Canada's 24/7 advice line offers management teams and business owners immediate expert guidance on managing employee wellbeing in the workplace. This initiative aims to reduce sick leave absences, providing employers with peace of mind.
In addition, the service provides on-demand e-learning, equipping businesses with essential resources for handling employee wellbeing efficiently. A library of downloadable step-by-step guidance, tips, and assistance for employees further ensures that teams feel supported and cared for.
“At Peninsula Canada, we recognize the critical importance of employee wellbeing and are committed to creating a work environment that prioritizes the health of staff,” Chadwick said.
“By focusing on the wellbeing of employees, it’ll foster a positive company culture, enhance productivity, and help businesses attract and retain top talent,” he said.
