Who is the newly minted senior executive?
The Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) has officially named Shelley Nixon as its chief legal officer, with her appointment taking effect on January 29, 2024. Nixon's primary responsibility in this role is to establish a legal, compliance, and governance function, collaborating closely with AIMCo's executive team.
Before joining AIMCo, Nixon was the president of global consulting at Ausenco Engineering Canada. Previously, she held other senior roles within the company, serving as vice president, Vancouver, vice president, Calgary, and vice president of legal and commercial, Americas. Nixon earned her Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Manitoba.
“Shelley brings significant experience as a chief legal officer, leader, and change agent to AIMCo. Her experience over her more than two-decade long career thus far – especially critical in-house counsel roles she played at both Ausenco Engineering and Petro-Canada – make her a strategic hire for AIMCo and an important addition to our leadership team,” says AIMCo CEO Evan Siddall.
Earlier this year, AIMCo appointed David Scudellari as senior executive managing director, head of international investment in January, and Kevin Bong as senior managing director, chief investment strategist and head of Singapore in May.
AIMCo, recognized as one of Canada's largest and most diversified institutional investment managers, oversees approximately $164 billion in assets under management. In September, AIMCo inaugurated its Singapore office in the country’s central business district, which marked AIMCo’s initial foray into Asia and its third international office.
