CIBC to hire 200+ data and AI experts to boost client services

CIBC has announced plans to hire over 200 data and AI professionals in the next 12 months to enhance its client-focused strategy.  

Christina Kramer, group head of Technology, Infrastructure, and Innovation at CIBC, emphasized the importance of AI in driving the bank's momentum.  

“We strongly believe that using AI thoughtfully will add to the momentum we have across our bank in delivering for our stakeholders and executing on our client-focused growth strategy,” she said.   

The new hires will focus on developing resilient and trustworthy AI solutions. CIBC has a history of using AI in key areas, such as risk management, fraud detection, and information security.  

The bank has also piloted Generative AI solutions and plans to operationalize AI at scale, improving experiences for both clients and team members while establishing robust governance for AI use.   

“AI talent is in demand across the industry, and we have a compelling value proposition to join our strong team of professionals that have established AI capabilities inside our bank and built the right governance and structure around AI to ensure we're using it thoughtfully to deliver on our business strategy,” Kramer added.  

She highlighted the opportunity to transform client interactions and enhance productivity and efficiency through these new roles.
