Desjardins partners with Constant Health for weight management support

Desjardins Insurance has partnered with Constant Health to provide behaviour-driven, evidence-based weight management programs.

These programs are designed to complement obesity medications (OM) and focus on sustainable weight management through expert guidance and healthy behaviours.

Depending on their group plan coverage, Desjardins clients may have some or all program costs covered, making the initiative accessible and cost-effective for Canadians.

Alexandra Segal, director of Clinical Product and Behaviour Science at Constant Health, emphasized the importance of comprehensive support. She noted that 30 percent of those taking OMs discontinue within one month, and 58 percent stop within three months.

Segal stated, “Effective, long-term weight management requires healthy behaviours and expert dietician guidance to yield sustainable results.”

She added, “We at Constant Health are incredibly honoured to have been selected by Desjardins Insurance as the preferred organization to deliver life-changing weight management programs to Canadians who need it.”

Desjardins Insurance expressed their commitment to supporting clients through innovative solutions.

Martin Nadon, senior director of Products and Training, said, “Desjardins Insurance is dedicated to providing Canadians with the support, tools, and programs that will help them achieve their goals. The expertise of the entire Constant Health team will be key for delivering on the behavioural component of OM-driven weight management programs for our clients.”

Constant Health’s program aims to address the needs of individuals seeking long-term weight management, including those with related medical conditions.

The program offers over five hours of personalized one-on-one coaching with registered dietitians trained in behavioural science and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). These experts develop tailored plans to support clients, focusing on reducing OM side effects and maximizing benefits.

Participants in the program stay engaged via Constant Health’s advanced app, which offers real-time support and motivation.

The app enables dietitians to access hundreds of data points to further personalize care, enhancing results beyond traditional approaches.

According to Desjardins Insurance, the integration of technology with clinical expertise ensures a comprehensive and user-focused experience.
