New director to work closely with CPP Investments' chief investment officer
John Graham, president and CEO of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) has announced the appointment of Manroop Jhooty as senior managing director & head of total fund management. The appointment is effective immediately.
Jhooty will assume responsibility for overseeing the total fund management division, where he will lead the management of global public securities, portfolio balancing, balance sheet management, tactical positioning, trading, and portfolio design.
Graham expressed his confidence in Jhooty's abilities, stating, “Manroop brings strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the design of our investment portfolios, which position him well to add significant value as part of our senior management team.”
“He will work closely with our chief investment officer to ensure that the fund's investing activities continue to collectively produce a total portfolio that will deliver maximized long-term returns without undue risk,” Graham said.
Jhooty's journey with CPP Investments began in 2019, with his most recent position being managing director, head of exposure, leverage, and liquidity management. During his tenure, Jhooty has led cross-fund initiatives, including assembling a team to assess risks and prepare the organization for significant global or financial challenges.
Before joining CPP Investments, Jhooty held various roles related to fixed income and credit trading at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
