RxFood Co., GreenShield launch AI-powered nutrition support
RxFood, a provider of AI-powered nutrition assessments, and GreenShield, Canada's sole not-for-profit healthcare payer-provider, have joined forces to deliver personalized nutrition support to employees, utilizing clinically validated dietary technology and health coaching. The partnership aims to assist Canadians in managing and preventing chronic diseases.
“The toll of chronic diseases is staggering, with an annual cost of $122 billion in lost productivity to the economy. This cost underscores the critical need to focus on chronic disease management and prevention,” says Joe Blomeley, executive vice-president at GreenShield.
Merging the health coaching and care navigation expertise of GreenShield Health, a division of GreenShield, with RxFood's AI-powered dietary assessment technology, Canadian employees now have the ability to access personalized, data-rich nutrition insights and recommendations via GreenShield's Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
“Our technology has undergone thorough clinical testing and consistently shown clear, positive outcomes. This has earned us the trust of respected health organizations dedicated to improving people's health,” says Dr. Jeffrey Alfonsi, chief medical officer and co-founder of RxFood.
This initiative offers Canadians swift access to nutrition data, enabling them to make educated food choices and reduce risks linked to chronic health conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
“Through this transformative collaboration, we are revolutionizing access to dependable, personalized nutrition data for Canadians, granting them the power to proactively elevate their long-term health outcomes by making superior dietary choices,” Blomeley adds.
GreenShield EAP clients can capture photos of their meals through the RxFood app, which eliminates the need for manual food and nutrition tracking. RxFood then provides detailed diet quality assessments to a dedicated GreenShield Health clinician, which allows them to offer personalized nutrition recommendations promptly.
The program also includes progress reports aiding clinicians in tracking improved health outcomes and measurable reductions in health risks over time.
“Our goal is to help people take charge of their health with reliable tools, leading to a healthier and more resilient workforce,” says Alfonsi.
