Unifor officials have confirmed that workers at the Taseko Gibraltar mine in Williams Lake, British Columbia, have ratified a three-year collective agreement.
According to BNN Bloomberg, the agreement includes wage increases and equity measures.
The new contract features a 13 percent wage increase over three years and revised drug testing procedures aimed at improving clarity and fairness. Additionally, the agreement introduces a Women's Advocate to support equity and acknowledges federal labour code leave for Indigenous practices.
Around 500 unionized workers had been on strike since June 1. Both sides reached a tentative agreement on Sunday.
The Gibraltar mine, operated by Taseko, is Canada's second-largest open-pit copper mine and the largest employer in B.C.'s Cariboo region. Company officials had previously stated that work could resume as early as today once the deal was ratified.
